Hope all is well with you. Big up to you for the question; how the Image of Serapis Soter became the image of the Jesus,
This is a very good question. I'm going to give you an excert from one of my research papers I have assembled.
Ptomely Soter(305-282 BCE) is the key, he was the first Ptomely(Greek Pharoah) and transfered the tradition/religion of Ausar to that of Serapis....................
The Ptolemies were powerful supporters of the native Egyptian religious foundations, the economic and political power of which was, however, carefully controlled. A great deal of the building and restoration work in many of the most important Egyptian temples is Ptolemaic, particularly from the period of about 150-50 B.CE., and the monarchs appear on temple reliefs in the traditional forms of the Egyptian kings. The native traditions persisted in village temples and local cults, many having particular associations with species of sacred animals or birds. At the same time, the Greeks created their own identifications of Egyptian deities, identifying Amon with Zeus, Horus with Apollo, Ptah with Hephaestus, and so on. They also gave some deities, such as Isis, a more universal significance that ultimately resulted in the spread of her mystery cult throughout the Mediterranean world.


The impact of the Greeks is most obvious in two phenomena:
• One is the formalized royal cult of Alexander and the Ptolemies, which evidently served both a political and a religious purpose
• The other is the creation of the cult of Sarapis, which at first was confined to Alexandria but soon became universal. The god was represented as a Hellenized deity and the form of cult is Greek; but its essence is the old Egyptian notion that the sacred Apis bull merged its divinity in some way with the god Osiris when it died.
The name Serapis was formed by combining Osiris with Apis, the bull; and this god was the Hellenized version of his Egyptian prototype, The worship of Serapis came into wide vogue after the conquests of Alexander, first in Egypt and then throughout the Graeco Roman world; although he certainly retained some of the characteristics of the ancient Osiris as well as some congenital relationship with Isis, his cult seems to have become independent in the third century B.C.E
The chief center of the worship of Serapis in Ptolemaic times was Alexandria, where it was established, according to tradition, by Ptolemy Soter
It appears to have been to the interest of all parties to welcome Serapis, and all must admire the astute action of Ptolemy, who succeeded in making the Greeks think that in worshipping this god they were adoring one of their own native deities, and who persuaded the Egyptians that they were maintaining the supremacy of Osiris-Apis in spite of the fact that the Macedonians were the rulers and masters of the country

Thanks for the positive ites bredrin, yes i, I have known Bro Ray for several years now, he is doing wonderful work, he has been sort of a mentor for I&I as I can Identify with his experience as being very similar to I, in that I also went to semminary and theological college, with the objective of the priesthood, only to uncover the half that has never been told, and now is on a journey of repairing the breach so to speak...
It is also quite interesting to note that the first time the name CHRISTIAN was used outside of the actual KRS was attributed to the followers and devotees of(Ptolomy Soter) Serapis Soter, who as the I outlined had origins outside of NTR or anti-NTR. So for all estensive purposes the name CHRISTIAN has not been applied to the so-called jesus, because he wasnt invented yet. This name was soley applied to the worshippers of serapis and not the so-called jesus. Among the major opponents to this false god and new doctrine was Arius, who his detractors called a heretic and many pictures show Arius being beat up by saint Nicholas (santa clause) for objecting to the new doctrine in favor of the ancient truth. So the new doctrine came in and the new god became Constantine himself......
Also, I have a copy of the lecture, Did the I see his lecture; "The Epitimous Identity of the Jews"?....this is another fine lecture among the great work Bro Ray and the brothers and sisters are doing at the African Village...

Thanks for the sound bite of HIM speech, very positive. Yes I, just a few points in relation to the said sound bite;....This speech specifically was directed to the Orthodox leaders that HIM had invited to Addis Ababa, to the conference of the Oriental Orthodox Churches in Jan 1966. Many ones use excerpts or soundbites of HIM Speeches to help to illustrate their point of reasoning, one of the dangers with that is that, HIM words can be taken out of context when done in this manner. In order for a one to fully overs Imajesty reasoning, a one must review HIM words in entirety, to clearly ivers the WHO HIM is speaking to and WHAT is the nature of the occasion that the speech was delivered, so that it can be overs in its proper context. So for all extensive purposes, HIM was speaking to and for the Othodoxy, with the audience being predominately Christians not jews, muslim, or traditional ethiopian cultures or Even the Rastafari Imples....
HIM also has speeches that He directly speaks to the Rastafari imples, many ones who claim Rastafari seem never to refer to the reasoning that HIM has irectly to the Rastafari Idrens. Speaking to and for the Rastafari Imples, these reasoning seem to not get much highlight, yet the reasoning to I&I Rastafari is very clear from the lips of I&I king, perhaps the I need to study it in dept.
Yes I bredrin Zebulun, this thread of reasoning is not an expose' of HIM being the defender of Faith, a title that was bestowed on HIM at the close ot the same conference mentioned above. As I say none can speak on what HIM knows they can only speak on what they of themselves know. So mi idren i will ask the I the same question? What is the true date of the birth of Jesus Christ?, I am of the view that the I wont find that answer by searching the speeches of HIM, as this question in more in light with biblical archealogy and a reasearchical ites, I&I look forward to the I reply. According to bible "Faith is the evidence of things unseen and substance of things hoped for..." so faith has nothing to to with FACTS thinking and knowledge, but every thing to do with, misinformation, suerstititon, fear, and doctrine.....

Well Dread.

The thing is, that everything that His Majesty talks about is directed to the House of Israel. Due to the fact that His Majesty was the the King of this people during His reign.

When I read the words of Haile Selassie I , I see the words of GOD to His people in this time. It is like when I read the letters to the congregations in the New Testament. It is words adressed to a specific set of people, but still its bigger than that. It is described in there how I should live my life - as in His Majestys words. If I want to follow HIM I choose to read and hear and believe.

You cant deny the fact that His Majesty was a Christian, and always talked about Christ and the Bible.

About the birth date of Christ.

We can read in what month Mary got pregnant by the Spirit.
After that its just simple math, count 10 months forward and you can at least find what month it is.

Just as His Majesty, Jesus Christ is born in July.

just a note, pls does not refer to I as Dread, as that is not I name nor is it an accurate description of I, thanks. I raspectfully disagree with the I on the date as the I really has to do better than merely just simple math, count 10 months etc. this can be refuted and debated by the most learned biblical scholars, and none have been able to concur on the actual date if any....
The I seems to be trying to deflect concrete constructive reasoning by using passionate responses, and sheilding behind the life and work of I&I King, who I&I NEVER refer to in the PAST TENSE, but in the PRESENT fullness. Istorically at the istablishment of the Rastafari in Jamaica in the early 20's and 30's, please take note of the actual istory of this trod. At the early iwah, Rastafari Imples did not have HIM speeches as reference material to formulate a cosmology and or theology. I&I had I&I ancient african oral traditions, Rastafari arose out of an inborn conception, not as the result of study and research by our elders. If the I ask any of the ancients of this trod, they will show the I the same. HIM speeches were not available to I&I til long after this trod istablish inna earth. As far as bible, all the bible did was confirm what I&I already knew as true. I am speaking about Rastafari, I&I know that there are some similarities as iritical kinsman is concerned, still there are cultural and iritical difference that will never reconcile, that's just reality......So for many of the youth Imples who sighting Rastafari, they tend to try to overs the roots of this trod by examining the fruits and leaves. I&I have no issues with the I acceptance of Christianity as that is the I choice, But when it comes to Rastafari, HIM told the world to; "leave the Rastafarians alone for they know what they are doing.." HIM told them this, in the Kings House in Jamaica in April 1966. HIM always have set they example of tolerance of other traditions and faiths.... HIM never set the example of a missionary or a one set on converting the masses to christianity. Also, when the Rastafari ilegation was received by the Abuna in Addis, and after lengthy iritical reasonings the Abuna said to the Rastafarians, that "the Bible can be interpreted that way" with regards to Imajesty Ivinity. The I need to examine these iversations and reasonings and ask yourself this question; How did Rastafari culture become istablished inna earth, and Bible and HIM Speeches were not available to the ones in Jamaica at that time? How and why was the seed planted in Jamaica, who planted it?......now this tree has grown and blossomed all over the earth. These are serious questions that require serious non partial reasoning....The I dem who now come, dont fully overs the original culture, and because the I dem dont know, the I dem are trying to formulate and Identity and culture based on speeches, sound bites and Bible quotes, without oversing the complete experience of the Africans culture who was carried to the west and through them Rastafari rose up as his redemption against oppresion of the European exploiters who enslaved the Africans.....this rose up as part and parcel of I&I African Liberation. The Majority of the africans were neither christian, muslim nor jews but were of traditional african God consciouness, and did not look to the European to define God, as the african always know God, and their cultures and traditions show this as facts.
As far as the Jesus is concerned; he never knew anything about what the I call christianity, beacuse he would have to have been a Jew, who went to synagauge and practiced judaism, just like his so-called parents and family. Jesus a jew and his followers are now called christian, so what is wrong with HIM being a christian king on the throne of a Jew, with HIS followers called Rastafarians, not christians..........
Just a note of information: According to many Ethiopians that I know and have reasoned with, their general view of Rastafarians are as I&I being misguided, they say that it is blaphemy to hail HIM and Itegue as the Supreme Beings, the average ethiopian christian offers prayers not to HIM but to jesus and mary of two thousand years ago, They say HIM is just a man and not worthy of praise, and the Christian proclaim HIM as dead and gone, this is the typical ethiopian view. This view is not supported by the Rastafari Imples who chant HIM is alive and well, Rastafari will never bury JAH, like I&I ethiopian brothers and sisters have tired to do and promote to the world.
One more note: the date of HIM birth is a general date and not an exact date, beacuse the culture did not promote, the public actually knowing the true date and name of the child because of the fear of the dangers associated with the evil eye and those sorcerers and witches that would use this knowlede in a negative way....

I love this post! Yet, I haven’t had time to read every post so I apologize if I reiterate a sound that a one already made.
Let’s face it there is no EXACT date of the birth of Je-sus. There are guesses from different historical scholars but no exact date. I copied and paste a link below. However, still no exact date. When referring to some of these incient text there are many disputes over what era or dynasty these events took place it is not just for Je-sus birth alone where scholars cannot agree. Thou I can see why Ras Amlak wants more precise answers as there are many myths that surround Je-sus birth and many other biblical stories for that matter.
I raise a next question – do ones sight myths as a way to cover up or stray from factual truths? Remember mythical stories occur not only in biblical text but within many ancient faiths/religions. How do ones sight this? Do ones bun out the myth reasonings all together and deal with straight facts?
A next question – if something is more incient do ones feel this carries more iritical powahs and is less susceptible to carrying corruptness?
As Negus Amlak stated many incient Ras never had access to HIM great words however, felt HIM presence within them divine selves and within iration and adopted other African trodditon (Nyahbinghi) to keep oppressors away!
Thou I must also say that after studying HIM majesty books and the few small books on Empress Menen there are many speeches (not just when HIM addressing the Orthodox church) where HIM will quote the bible and love for Je-sus the Christ.

In these times all Ises belong to the fulfillment of these times and incient prophecy His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie I 1st and Empress Menen. As InI as Ras who are called by HIM name can closely identify with HIM as tangible, concrete, EXISTING and REAL.

It has been proposed that Luke was referring to an earlier census, and the Luke 2:2 should be translated '...this taxing was first made before Cyrenius became governor of Syria...'. There are several problems with this approach. Firstly, it stretches the plain meaning of Luke 2:2 a little. Secondly, as it stands, Luke 2:2 is in harmony with Josephus, who records no census before this point, and seems to imply that this was, in fact, the first taxation of Judea by the Romans. Finally, Matthew mentions no census in his birth narrative. Instead, he begins his story in Bethlehem, where Jesus was already born. DATE OF BIRTH OF JESUS CHRIST
In fact, the census conducted by the Roman, Cyrenius, would necessarily have had to be the first. Up to this point, Syria was under the jurisdiction of Herod and his family. It was only after the banishment of Archelaus that Syria became a Roman province. It is yes true, that HIM spoke of Orthodoxy and Christ on many occasions, most notably by some is the interview of HIM that took place on a Lutheran radio broadcast during Christmas, many ones refer to this interview as well, granted...Also HIM said that He does not consider HIS faith alone as valid as the people are free to observe whatever their faith was. Hence Imajesty promote tolerance of other faiths and to live peacefully side by side with them. Imajesty knows of the Rastafari bredrin from such time, and has supported and encourage I&I to walk in that said fullness, not to come join the Christian Church, Imajesty is also on the record as being responsible for the building of building and restoring, Mosques, Churches and Synagauges that are intragal parts of Ethiopia heritage and history. The Orthodox doctrine and literagy is very clear in its order, the pillars of the Faith, the person of mary and its administration of the order and sacrements. It is very very clear as to what orthodoxy or the tewedo is.....One one can enter monastary and receive training in its tenets, as i say are very clear. And anything that is introduced and presented as orthodoxy and is contrary to what is taught and upheld by the ancients of the church, is not called the tewedo or Christianity because it goes against what is taught....This issue is very clear for all who wish to study it.
The problem what we tend to have is ones and ones who are sensitive to, sympathetic to, and or attracted to the Rastafari Culture (which also is very clear) and then in turn want to promote this culture as being christian, because ones see the king as christian, this is contrary to the culture. Rastafari is very specific on the culture livity and does not promote the word sound jesus, because we already knew about that from the hands of the oppressors who gave I&I this through threat, duress and co-ersion, upon threat of loosing ones life, if I&I didnt confess jesus before the colonialist. This was I&I introduction to jesus in the west, it was forced upon I&I. The same way one come into the orthodox and come with contrary doctrine, they will be shunned and even thrown out of the church grounds. It is no different so to speak among I&I, when a one come with contrary doctrine, they tend to get bun out likewise.
I have a question about "Antiquities",? is this known by another name?

Yes I RasTafari also means resistance against the oppressor. Thou I must say I feel more Ras in these times bun the Jesus talk than ever before. Weren’t most of the incients within RasTafari chanting that H.I.M is Christ in HIM kingly character? Like Leonard Howell? Thou I am least familiar with the Bobo livity I overs that they feel Emmanuel is the black Christ return right? Many of the elder Ras reason about Jesus too where as the younger lions are bunnin a fiyah on Je-sus. It is said reasoning for the bible. Many of the mansions used passages from the bible regularly and now ones are starting to refrain a likkle and read up more of HIM speeches and other writings. My point being it wasn’t always Je-sus getting bun out. It is the European Michael Angelo Geezus that get flames and fiyah to no return. It is Pope Paul Jesus that head get cut off everytime.
I feel that Ithiopians were aware of the real Yahshua before the Europeans came.
As for the Ethiopian Orthodox Church – I have made a presence there on a few occasions and have been disappointed by the lack of respect for InI true fadda HIM so I didn’t bother to attend again. No disrespect no any of this faith however it is not for I. I also know that EOC was on the dergues side when trying to overthrow HIM RED HOT LAVA! Ras Amlak it is sooo true that InI fadda HIM is so gracious and loving that HIM would preserve all religions within Ithiopia even the Falashas were never bothered and persecuted to the degree until Haile Mengistu came about and took away their area of land. It is only the “dergue” minded Ethiopians that would tell the I-dem otherwise.
Anyway, I am always up for ones who want to reason and disagree.

Yes I, sis IAM, its true, resistance against the donpressor, via righteous african livity. As this reasoning is now going into a different, yet connected area surrounding the jesus & Rastafari, I see it still within the integrity of the ites of the reasoning.
1st of all the term "Christ in his kingly charecter" in its origin among rastafari imples came in the late 70's through the Rastafari social organization that was founded by Vernon carrington (Prophet Gad) called the twelve tribe of israel incorporated. This organization was formulated froma defunct Chicago EWF charter. One of the major difference in the social cosmology was that his organization was among the first to allow erupeans as dues paying members and officers, whereas the churchical order of Rastafari such as the nyahbingi and later the Bobo Ashanti did not allow europeans in its administration and councils of the order. So the twelve tribe organization became affiliated with the EOC and many of the members became baptised into the EOC. The 12 tribes of Israel had members all over the world at its peak of funtioning, also 12 tribes has a large stable of reggae musicians and singers who promoted much of the popular phraseology that is found among Rastafari, ie "christ in his kingly charecter" etc. So as reggae spread, so did the message of Rastafari with the returned christ reasoning spread also in the music.
It must also be mentioned that the churchical thoecracy had its music as well, Ivine Iyahbinghi chants,(birthed many reggae songs) terrible and dreadful iyahbinghi chants. Different from the electric reggae, in that, unless a one didnt trod the order, they generally would not have any knowledge of many of the chants and the istical powers associated with them. These were primarily chanted in the issembles around the rainbow circle throne and ilah days and within the iyahbinghi families, man woman and child.
Charles Edwards (Prince Emanuel) founder of what is commonly called bobo ashanti also has its roots in the nyahbinghi as well.
Hibbert, Hinds, Dunkley and Howell are credited as being among the earliest enuciators of Ethiopia Salvation, each one of the bredrin came fro a different orientation and background, and their reasonings reflected it, hence certain aspects of - ethiopian mysticism, revivalist, Hebraic and masonry etc were established in the various "camps" for example; Leonard Percival Howel, and those that within his leadership were called howelites, Claudius Henry - the Henryites, Bedward - Bedwardites etc. Howell unlike his contemporaries actually was present at the coronation in ethiopia and returned to jamaica and was the first to actually chant the name rastafari in relation to the supreme being, unlike the others who were not this specific about who is jah and were he lives. So howell has not been credited to the usage of the phrase christ in his kingly character among the howelites at pinacle. Inmy opinion Jesus is not a historical personage but a bunch of plagerised lies and rehatched stories long before the pisous family sat and copied and stole other peoples dieties. Never was no jesus malarky and these stories are assisting in keeping back black people as mental slavery is still rampant. I wish i could assits you back for that date we have to look deep within the religions of the past as Jesus conception is not christian. Them too thief.....
