Is It Really Possible to Forgive and Over Come the SLAVERY?

I usually read the reasonings and add my two cents worth when a topic inspires I to think...I never thought that I would actually start a topic, to discuss it but I do.

Currently a replica of the L'Amestad is dock down by the Harbour here in Barbados, awaiting locals and tourist alike to come on board, take tour, get to know, expirence it real time.... the whole trans-atlantic slavery trade and all of that but the funny thing is the only people working on this ship is Caucasians.

Now that is kind of ironic, why are they no BLACK people working on this ship, giving the tours, opening up our eyes to the history that was so vile, horiffic, at sometimes unbelievable treatment, life that our very strong fore fathers and mothers had to endure...and they had to be strong, to be kidnapped, beaten to a pulp, stuff in a tiny ass ship, packed in like pencils in box and shipped thousands of miles to a place that isn't their home. You see Identity theft was around back then too but it only became a crime when it first happened to another race....

Is it possible for we, the descendents to really forgive, OVER COME the Trans-atlantic Slave Trade or is as unattainable as REPATRIATION?

Overcome yes, Forgive....lol

Repatriation is not unattainable, that is up to the the individual(s) to inspire the masses, reparations on the other hand are unattainable

No African child with self love and love for his peoples and ancestors can forgive, and we CAN NOT afford to forget, lest we let it happen again....I believe overcoming is a process of deprogramming and self-education, an introduction to the afrocentric world view helps propel this process as it helps to break off the mental shackles and chains of the racist, misogynistic eurocentric world view (and its detrimental psychological impact on the African child)

While they abolished physical slavery in most parts of this hemisphere they still practice psychological and economical slavery, so we are never really going to be free in a system designed by AND for the downpresser...this is what Jah Marcus realized, hence the call....Africa for Africans

True African unity must be achieved i.e lobbyist groups in U.S.A promoting African liberation today (Arab and Caucasian controlled Africa); en masse organization for the betterment of our peoples locally and abroad.....basically realize WHO to fight (nout ourselves) and unite

I am very happy you began this discussion k! I think we could forgive slavery IF our past enslavers apologized and took the necessarry steps to RIGHT the atrocities committed, we would probably have forgotten slavery long ago! it is this prolonging of our captivity that enrages us so much! after world war 2 people that are not real jews but are in fact askenazi caucasoids were given another peoples land to create an israel. we still have no control of our land. the natives are still living on reservations while others destroy and pollute their lands. we will forgive when the european repatriates to europe and gives earthz people recompense for their treasures and the lands they originate from back! love peoples!!!!!!

Forgiving is a mistake our future generations may have to pay the price for, I do not recommend that...however that does not mean to demonize white people either...forgetting slavery is not an option...forgiving slavery is not an option

We will NEVER get reparations and we will never see the European go back where they belong

I will have to disagree on the part aboutthe past enslavers apologising, say sorry....past, present and future enslavers of this beautiful, strong black race will have to apologise until the end of time..why because it has not stopped..... it now political camouflage under the guise of integration. Have they not try to right the atrocities by actually acknowledging the SLAVE TRADE did happened and they all made a big fat profit that today their decendents are enjoying...living well...while we as a entire race are refered to as a minority, please and we get special handouts... please if you all really think about, put all the entire black race together and you will see thatwe are not no minority we are the majority

Perfect Balance,

For my question's sake can we stick to the US problem, please

How does one right the atrocites?

Since you are the one open to the converstaion about making repairs I want to aim this question at you.

Spell it out, for me - please - what would it take for YOU to forgive? Because the longest journey starts with one step.

while things "seem" change, it has remains the same. World wide the ansestors of the slave masters are enjoying the fruits of the slave trade. they are enjoying their status in the US and world wide. let us face it . at their core, not at their surface, white people are not willing to give up their status for black people..................let us keep it very real. we have been talking about taking the first step for the past 400 years. this is just a smoke screne to apeal one's conscience. whites are having a great time, while dancing and singing on the graves of our ancestore. you would have to be black to understand.l

Integration has systematically (great word) destroyed I-N-I self, Integration into a left-brained white male dominated society can only hurt I-N-I, as is seen by the ravages of capitalism and its symptomatic individualism...we come from a people who are more communal, more about the community than the individual...but with the rise of white capitalism and decline of Marxism as a social movement....we have been transformed into individuals who care more about I, Me, My than I-N-I...and many of us succumb to white man desires like riches and material wealth as opposed to African desires like Spiritual and Mental health

Queen Ogechi,

My apologies, but the Africans have been fighting for centuries, it's just called TRIABALISM. Humans are humans and they will seperate themselve above all others EVERY TIME, sorry that is human nature.

The state that Africa is in, NOW, certainly has to do with the rape and pillage of it's land and it's people, triablaism and materialism, oh, and don't forget GREED.

Queen Ogechi,

Give thanks. I'm quite thankful that He Who Bendz Light (that has to be one of the coolest online names ever) was able to touch you.

Many, many sides to every topic.

Often when it comes to conflict discussions I think of a song by Abijah - No More War - there is a line there that says "when a wounded one wants to wound back another" and until we all make amends for the injuries we've inflicted on each other there will never be forgiveness.

It touches me, because even after all these years I try to push when all that is really need it a light touch.

Give thanks Sister, and give thanks for your overstanding.

So how do we conquer tribalism, ethnocentricism??

Yes greed has devastated Africa...time and time again...the contact with the left-brained white male and the subsequent conquering by said people has eurocentic capitalist values infecting some of our leaders even today...personal greed, despotic governments/monarchies, scared governments/monarchies have been around for centuries

The I's goal is to simply lay out for the multitude that the shared syncrertism we possess does and must outweigh the marginal (and sometimes socially constructed) differences we perceive....how do we change perception??

Bless Up!

How shall we sing the Lord's song in a strange land? If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning. If I do not remember thee, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth; if I prefer not Jerusalem above my chief joy. Remember,… Continue

Hope this holds meaning for you! Jah bless Inspiration;9/6 Malachi 3:3 says; 'He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver.' This verse puzzled some women in a bible study and they wondered what this statement meant about the character and nature of God. One of the women of… Continue
